Fall is approaching in Oxford fast, and I’m totally prepared. Fall is my favorite season for fashion. Anybody can put together a sundress and sandals for the summer, but once the weather breaks you notice who has true style.
I keep my wardrobe stocked and prepared for the season changes. Most pieces in my closet can transcend from one season to the next easily.
This summer I wore halter tops that could be paired with anything. So, to take this Forever21 black halter top from summer to fall quickly, I paired it with a faux leather skater skirt that I’d gotten from ASOS a couple of years ago. Together they are magical.
This faux leather skater skirt inspired me to bring out my leather Chinese Laundry wedges. These shoes helps every element in the look to mesh perfectly together. I add gold accessories to bring some light to the darkness.
I’m wearing my hair in its natural state right now, so, hoop earrings are a must in jewelry box right now. I love how my hair adds to the look. Along with the location, I feel like it’s the 70s in London!
I pray this fall be filled with amazingly good style, and it’s captured by great photos.
My fabulous internship in New York has come to an end. *queue the violins* My experience at Good Housekeeping magazine has certainly been educational, and the staff was cool. The 28th floor crew will be missed.
Now, it’s time to pack up and head to the airport. Dressing for the airport can be tricky. I want to be comfy, but my dad has always told me “you never know who you will meet”. So, I want to still be flawless and fierce.
This is what the paparazzi could catch me in at the airport:
Boyfriend jeans are my favorite style of jeans. It doesn’t matter what color wash they are. I’ve always gone to them first in GAP or Forever21. I have a at least three white v-neck t-shirts in my wardrobe. I don’t hesitate to pull one out on any given occasion. (Confession: I’ve worn a white t-shirt to dinner before) Shoes are my favorite element in an outfit. So, adding Converse to this outfit was a no brainer.
Accessories are easy to layer in an outfit. A watch and rings aren’t too heavy on the wrist and hands, and if layered correctly they can really help a look to shine. Now, the bag! You have to make sure you have a cute carry-on bag. This Michael Kors is perfect for traveling. You can have everything you need in this bag. The long straps will help the weight to be easy on your shoulders. Yes, everything in this look is red. That’s only because the look would be bland with the white elements in the top and shoes. You need a bold color to help the look pop. Top off everything with a red lip, and you’re ready to take flight!
So, I’ve finally been able to get out to a beach for some sun! It was a perfect Sunday to pull out my favorite bathing suit this summer. Of course, it came from one of my favorite stores, Forever 21. The plus-size section at F21 is gives us bigger girls the freedom to wear whatever we choose.
The high waisted bikini design dates back to the 60s but this millennial girl loves them! It lets you channel your inner pin-up girl. I always feel like a thick, black Betty Paige when I wear one.
I’ve gotten so many compliments in this suit. I just absolutely love it on my skin complexion and body. The neon colors and the straps in the back make for perfect tan lines. The high waisted bikini design is meant to give you a slimmer waist while smoothing out your belly. The bottom lets your hips stick out, while allowing your legs and butt to look amazing. I don’t have the biggest butt, but its firm and just round enough.
I don’t usually waste my time with cover ups while going to the beach. I’m pretty comfortable in my skin when I put on a suit. There are more women like me who have embraced the “fatkini” and broken the rules when it comes to bathing suits. I’m not going to stop wearing what makes me feel good. Forget good, AMAZING!
My first semester as a Style Guru for College Fashionista has come to an end. My last post will go live soon. It features me in a Style Guru Style. Thanks to Phillip Plein and his Fall 2015 line, I was very inspired to create this final look. My style differs greatly from the counterparts I’ve found on my campus.
I have to admit it wasn’t easy tracking down the most fashionable people at the University of Mississippi. But, I managed to do it anyway. From Kinky Boots to Southern Fringe, my college town has no limits when it comes to getting so fresh and so clean. Every Thursday, my posts went live and it was an ultimate requirement to take to social media. My TweetDeck was filled with scheduled tweets with links for my viewers to indulge themselves in different types of styles. Next fall will bring more amazing trends and more chic people to wear them! Until then check out my author page to see what this style guru had to say. Make sure to Register & Rad!
Summer will forever be a great season for fashion. Well, truthfully any season is a great season for fashion. This summer has especially bloomed into something epic for my wardrobe. Before diving in too quickly, I have to make sure that I have the perfect bathing suits. I was in a rush to squeeze back into my favorite high-waisted bikinis.
Forever21 will forever be my go-to for cheap but chic style. I’ve always been able to create fashionable looks with the pieces I’ve ordered from the online site. Last summer, my favorite bathing suit was lined with fringe.
But this summer, I’ve found a new love. Black may not be the color for summer, but it definitely lets my melanin be on fleek in this particular suit.
With or without the straps, I’ve fell head over heels and straight into the nearest swimming pool with this gorgeous, crochet suit.
